Paediatric Oral surgery

In a developing dentition, occasionally teeth may fail to erupt, exfoliate , get impacted and rarely there can be extra or supernumerary teeth. Extractions can be done under local anaesthetic but in complex cases and in young children its done under a short day-case general anaesthetic. Sometimes unerupted teeth like canine teeth can be guided into place with orthodontic brace treatment and will require an open exposure of the tooth or exposure plus bonding under a short general anaesthetic in a hospital setting.
